NEWTON APARTMENT BY JKW Interior Architecture + Design Ltd
A loft apartment located in a gritty, yet up and coming city fringe suburb was transformed into a urbane version of itself. The client (a property developer) advised Interior designer, Janice Kumar-Ward that he wanted to move away from the neutral palettes used in his other Waiheke Island properties and for this project to reflect more of his own personality and taste. The use of colour was central to the brief and even incorporating a mural painted by street artist Deus that was discovered in the entrance.
“One of the things I love is that this client was really open to doing something quirky and left of field,” says Kumar-Ward. “He wanted pieces he loved, not all matching, and a fun and engaging space people would walk into and find unusual and interesting.” - Janice Kumar-Ward

The dining table, designed by Chris, was constructed from reclaimed Rimu from the house (with brass detailing) became the epicentre of the space.

PARNELL, NEW ZEALAND
A modern home designed and built by the owner, positioned to maximise views of the Hibiscus Coast. Toni Roberts of Kitchen Architecture's design incorporated the home's architectural details into a kitchen that nestles seamlessly into the heart of the space.
Detail here was paramount, with a striking slatted cedar ceiling and concrete block back wall protected by a custom-made retractable stainless steel splash back. A solid granite bench top by CDK Stone sits upon a steel structured island with feet, grounded in the space.
